Yup.  It screws onto the SO-239, so no harm done.

It does have a tunable VFO, Hue.  It's called "Pitch", at the bottom center of the front panel between Audio Gain and A.N.L..  The set has the usual SX-28 Halli stability, so I've never found it to be a problem listening to SSB.  In some ways, I like it better than the BC-348.  The selectivity switch options are a nice touch on a crowded band, and the IF output ("PAN") for the AN/APA-10 panoramic adapter makes the pair interesting to use.
