Hi Mike –
Unfortunately I do not have enough shelves, even though there must be about 30 or so down there. I can barely even walk around down there. A few years ago I hired a couple of HS boys to make pathways for me. I need to have an indoor hamfest every weekend, HI. 73 – Mike

Mike,
When I installed an alarm I placed a water detector by the hot water heater and condensation pump. Two years ago I got an alarm and found the water heater starting to leak. I shut the tank feed and contacted the HVAC guy on Monday. The HVAC guy had one in stock. Fortunately this is the only time I received an alarm.
All of my equipment and boxes in the basement are on shelves or pallets as per advice I got from an insurance adjuster.
When I am away from home for an extended period I shut off the water main.

Well, Mike, I do not live in a flood prone basement, but, 15 ears ago the bottom of my water heater rotted out and I wound up with about 2 inches of water all over my 2000 sq. foot basement. I had radios floor to ceiling everywhere. If you would like to see part of what it looked like before the flood, google “visit n4fs” . Insurance paid over $200K. I had over 2000 line items and probably about 20,000 total items on my claim, which took a year to put together. 73 – Mike

In your opinion, does this radio appear to have been under water, probably in someone's basement?

If so, the pot metal inside is probably
hopeless crumbles and everything else,
corroded beyond repair.
IMHO, people who stack radios in flood-prone basements need a trip to the wood shed.
