Very nice job, Ray! However, I have a question about the RS232. To watch the flow of data from the head (TX on the head), I see no problem paralleling the exciter RS232-RX with a PC’s RS32-RX because both are high impedance. However, the video shows you attaching 3 wires for the DE9 connector. I think paralleling two devices’ TX signal pin could be problematic as one might be in space while the other is in mark (-12V and +12V paralleled). Unless the head is performing ACKs back to the exciter, I think I would only connect ground and RX pins from your terminal to the test jig at any one time. Unless I’ve misunderstood.
