Talked with Patrick KD5ODI about this and maybe they can provide some support.

I need help. I live in Chester, Texas. 40 miles from Lufkin. 130 from

Houston. 60 from Jasper and 35 miles from Livingston. My Repeater has gone

down and I need someone to repair it. I am an 80 year old disabled veteran

that is legally blind and I am no longer able to repair it myself.

It is a 6 foot tall by 2 foot square cabinet with all components rack

mounted inside. It is a General Electric (GE) Master II. I have all the

manuals and the test set.

The repeater is insured by the ARRL Insurance Program and all I will need

from you is an invoice from you to send ARRL after you fix it to get you

paid. Everything looks great cosmetically and it may have been an electric

storm that took it out??? Lightning or a power serge??? The antenna and coax

on the tower checks OK. Power is still coming to it, but the repeater is

dead. Worked fine for 7 years without a problem.

I am rural and no radio repair people in my county. The nearest is Lufkin

and they said it is too old for them to work on. Hell of a note to me as it

looks new and is solid state.

If anyone thinks they can do the job please contact me as I will use the

repeater as backup for RACES for Tyler County.

An alternate plan B would be if someone had a working GE Master III at a

reasonable price to replace the inside components with. You could program it

and replace everything. I don't think the cans are damaged but I can't test

them myself. Please forward this email to anyone that you think can help me.
