I have 4 F cells that I got from Tektronix
surplus (country store) back in the late 70's. I got them to make
a nicad battery pack for my Nosen Cessna 310 quarter scale RC
plane. They look like 2 D cells end to end for length and about
the same diameter as a D cell. I don't know what Tektronix used
them in but they used them in something.

This is just a guess as I don’t recall
ever having seen a definition of an F-cell. But if they were
really called that, then it is a D-cell with wire leads instead
of just flat contacts.
A D with wire leads? I've never seen, or heard of that. Any idea
as to what, or where such a battery would be used?
