In '95, I stopped in Beatty, Nevada one night, and turned on the
scanner.  I heard an ELT in 121.5 MHz!

I quickly called Nellis to inform them.

The ELT was found, in storage, with ruptured size D Duracells, which
activated it, while slowly eating it from the inside.

There was no really safe way to get it apart, and the batteries out, so
it was pulverized on the spot.

Can you imagine Nellis, Sandia, TTR, Area 51, losing their shit over an
ELT in their region due to a POS battery?
