Is the open end of the 3000 pFd cap the
coupling to the 211 MO grid circuit?
Is the 211 grid DC circuit to ground
still original?

Did you disconnect cap 610 to break feedback?
Where did you apply grid drive from the top of
the 18-ohm resistor?  I'd think 18 Ohms directly
from the grid to ground would be a DC bias problem.
