There's no accounting for taste.  I've seen a variety of garish R-390A paint jobs, doubtless all done by hobbyists.  When I lived in Indiana, I knew a geezer who restored dozens of SP-600s in many different bizarre circus-day color schemes.  From talking to him, I got the impression that he felt he'd gone as far as was practical with electronic work on the receivers, and so turned to decorating them...

A friend of mine brought this interesting Collins R390A home from the Waynesville NC hamfest yesterday

Serial # looks to be 14111

Order No 8719-P-55

Has anyone ever seen one with similar paint job?

The etched front panel is light gray and most lettering is white

The following control selections are in red:

Line Meter - Off

Audio Response - Sharp

AGC - Slow

Break-in - Off

Limiter - Off

Function - both Off and Cal are in red

BFO - Off

Also in red is MEGACYCLE CHANGE

and the the CAUTION
