I toured the Lightship Relief docked here in Oaklands Jack London square about 8 yrs ago. It has the same radio and beacon gear as the Overfalls.

The radio area was roped off and asked the tour guide if I could step in to get some pics of the gear on my camera.
Was told under no circumstance was anyone allowed to step in there but ship staff...he was being a jerk and wouldnt take the pics for me if I gave him the camera to do so.

Its docked by FDR's presidential Yacht Potomac. There is a radio room on board with gear that really doesn't belong there and well...that's a whole other story.

I toured the Overfalls Lightship in 2018. Here are pictures of the Radio Beacon and Ship-to-Shore radio.

The beacon is a Hallicrafters TB-142 Transmitter built in 1949. The Ship-to-Shore transmitter is a Radiomarine Corporation of America T-298/URC-7 with a MD-223/URC-7Z Modulator/Power Supply. The receiver is an RCA R-413/URC-7. The Overfalls had two Ship-toShore radios.

I strongly recommend touring the ship when in Delaware. Other interesting equipment include a RCA Radar and a Lionel Compensating Binnacle holding the compass.

Lewes is right down the road from Cape Henlopen State Park

We have a Lightship museum over in Lewes Delaware and they still have the original LF Beacon transmitters. You can see it on picture “E” on this link. No idea what the transmitters are.
