[Milsurplus] Anybody ever played with a FC141-1 CAA fixed tuned single freq HF receiver?

In the deep dark recesses of a mildewed storage room in the Greenville (SC)
Downtown airport tower, my son retrieved and brought to me a long
forgotten vintage CAA FC141-1 1.6 to 10Mhz fixed freq. receiver, destined
for the dumpster. . Actually found a manual on Nick's Navyradio site that
covered several CAA receivers, and had this one in chapter 13. It
apparently uses solder in coil sets for different freq ranges, and the
crystal freq is the Cf + 455KC. It has a crystal in it, but the nameplate
says 1241.875KC which puts it receiving far below the lowest coil set that
starts at 1.6Mhz.. Unless somebody was listening a bit off freq to a BC
station on 1242.33KC, that crystal might be a red herring. Of course, the
coil set markings are not visible from the outside in this receiver, but
in the manual, they show them clearly marked for Band 3 in this instance.
