[Milsurplus] ARRL and thinking

I too was robbed of receiving QST as a 3 year membership, losing about 2
1/2 years of issues. The last issue that was not printed and sent to all
members, their printer at that time, told the ARRL they had no paper, that
the league had to find the paper and deliver it to the printer, to the tune
of $500K bucks, which they did not have. When their portfolio improved a
couple months later, they could have gone back to printing it. But here is
what H. P. Maxim thought about QST in a paraphrased format, and why it
should still be printed and sent to members today and forever:

*'The ARRL was the organization, and QST was its practical communications
and membership journal—the means by which the League organized, educated,
and connected amateurs.'*

If you remember, all those things built and showcased in the Handbook, were
mostly built or duplicated by the ARRL's technical dept. They haven't
built a thing in quite a while, so why the expense of a technical dept?
The organization is very top heavy. As to moving, I think they should
consider Oklahoma. Their signal would be equidistant from just about
everybody, and their decision making thought process would not be frozen by
CT winters and the politics of the NE.
