As a Nuke popper for many years, I have some insight.
Radium emits Alpha, Beta and Gamma rays.
With proper handling and treatment, there is little to fear.

I still work for the railroad so no time now- when I get home,
I'll post on this. Please do not attempt to remove the paint.

Radiation is fire- You would not run away screaming
from a struck match, nor stick your finger in it.
You would run screaming from a forest fire.
The paint on your radio is like a small struck match;
Nothing to fear if handled correctly.

I have seen two grey - finish TBY. One, a person i know did the job. I did not comment, did not ask if he first sanded the surface or so on,
did not say anything at all about radium, but i sure thought, "Man, i'm sure glad i wasn't around while that was being done."
The second, by golly i just remembered, and it's I that owns it. I cannot remember why i bought it - maybe to pair up with the TBY AC
supply i have, then resell it that way. I better find that thing and get on that project. Still, i am so glad i wasn't anywhere around while
that repaint process was going on.
RALs, RBMs, grey is just fine with me. In fact, i like it more than black wrinkle.
