I may be mistaken....but i think the TBX-6 was made for the USCG and....maybe of some importance to you: has no radium. I think this is the only no - radium model, except for the super rare TBX predecessors.

I could kick myself now, and hard. I let my brother sell off some of my stash, and one of the things sold off was a -6. I have several other models still left, but no -6, which is what i should have kept. I also had 2 of the vibrator supplies. Oh well. I do have sufficient projects to last me.

The receiver works quite well for being such a simple thing. The single tube 837 transmitter also works surprisingly well even in free running osc mode. Which is truly a rare thing on the air.

The No. 19 U.K. tank radio is about the same size, but i think the TBX is maybe preferable. The 1.5 volt tubes don't get hot and there is less longterm drift.

The TBX was used in China by USN coastwatcher stations, it IS documented. Their reports were compiled and forwarded by stations using TBW RBM. I always wonder why the TBX was not used more in the Philippines as that was also a totally USN operation til 1945.
