[Milsurplus] "BC means Basic Component"

Howdy,

It appears the "AN system" nomenclature was devised around 1943, with 
the Navy using it during the war (e.g., AN/ARC-5).  TM 11-600, released 
in 1947, refers to radio set AN/VRC-5 (a BC-603 and a BC-604 on separate 
mounting bases), indicating the Army was using it by then...
