HueI place an ad for a PRC 74A on couple sites. There are certain flags you pickup such as sometimes they use a different Email for the payment and they don’t want you to use friends & Family. I went back on one and said  i’d pay the differance even thought I already knew he was Scammer. He just said he couldn’t except payment that way. I just had one pleading for me to take the deal as his wife was in hospital and he was having to sell his ham gear. He went so far as to sent a picture of his wife on a hospital bed! She didn’t look very sick. I don’t engauge I tell them to send pictures, shipping costs and what they want for the radio. Then I ask were they are located the figures that I get don’t make sense. Their locations always match the FCC data base for the callsign. Shipping is another one $20 for a 50lb radio from Utah to Virginia is another one I got. The ones i’ve been dealing with have been using the first name listed for the Callsign followed by the actual callsign and then the provider for the Email address.I was really hoping I could shake a legitimate ham that might be thinking of selling one.MikeW1ZFB

How does this scam work ? Is it as basic as, "You send me a money order first" ?
I would be tempted to play them, like suggest the money be held in escrow, until item is received; held by a person i or a ham radio club chooses. Or maybe we can make plans to meet up ?

I  had never noticed the difference in color of the knobs on the ART-13.
Kinda reminds me of this puzzle in the local newspaper - "Find 6 differences in the drawings"
and the tendency is to overlook what's "not important".
So why the red knob skirts and some black ?
