Subject: [Milsurplus] Parts for SP600

Have a good friend that lost everything radio related in a house fire several years ago, and has been slowly repairing what was not totally destroyed. He has an SP600 that had all the knobs screwed up by the heat, did not melt, just not right. After a cleanup, the radio works just fine. He needs things like knobs, dials, an S meter, and dial window glass to complete the front panel. He is almost done with his T368, the PS was under 2 feet of water, did a lot of work on his Drake gear and Collins gear, some just had to be junked. In his case, it was not the fire that destroyed everything, it was the heat and the water from the fire houses. His ham shack was in his walkout basement, and the two stories above it ended up in his ham shack. The burning house with all the things in it alight, turns the water into a chemical slurry that eats into everything it touches. Using steam or hot water to clean up radio gear barely touches what it does to panels, chassis, and things encased in aluminum like IF cans.

If anybody has a line on a cosmetically good junker, or a set of knobs, let me know on this list, or contact Carl, w4rcw at bellsouth.net <mailto:w4rcw at bellsouth.net>

Thanks from, Charlie W4MEC
