Years ago, ca. 1980s in Seattle, i had an RAL. I would listen to the ocean weather reports from RCN station CKN, which as you may imagine, came in strong. I liked the way the output meter followed the CW, but truth to tell, at a solid 20+ wpm it was mostly too fast for me. I recall using only a single voltage supply for it, with absolutely no problem at all.
The German infantry portable Torn.E.b is another smooth working regen, but tops out at about 7.1 MHz unless you do something about the inductances.
The Marconi 730 i have, i wonder why they didn't put RF and detector stages on one cap, instead of 2 tuning knobs to twiddle. It's not like that would be innovative technology. I read years back that some Brit ship, a collier i think, disapeared in the No. Atlantic in, i think, 1947. The inquiry report stated that the equip onboard was a spark transmitter and a Marconi 730. Unfortunately, dammit, i cannot find that report again...
