All,
Here is the link to a downloadable pdf entitled "Radium in Military Surplus Commodities” dated 1956:
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC1919920/
Mentioned are TBX, TBY, MAW-1, BC-778-E “Gibson Girl”, and US Navy type CQC-23496 Remote Control Indicator System.
Also mentioned are self-luminous aircraft gauges
I “think” a rule of thumb for US and WW2 Japanese portable field radios is the “early models” are the ones affected.
For example I read somewhere that TBX 1-4 (black smooth front panel) potentially have radium, and TBX-6 and later units supposedly do not (these later units have a black wrinkle front panel)
Taka Doi says Japanese WW2 Army field radios “made before 1943” are all suspect.
The worst I have seen personally is a WW2 Japanese Army 94-3A Receiver-Transmitter (in multiple wooden chests, plug-in coils, designed in 1934) -
The entire front panel is very hot , every control!
I have a small video I need to put out on this.
best,
brian
