High dollar? At today's rate of inflation, $9.95 for 16 ounces is not what I would call "high dollar" even on fixed retiree income. Here is a link to the correct stuff.https://www.acehardware.com/departments/heating-and-cooling/chimney-and-flue/chimney-brushes-and-accessories/46623?store=04538&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw16O_BhDNARIsAC3i2GAghZR4SSCkpcAWUYmnWe3OkftpYTAz9WMcZ4Ybj3baAAJl6NA01xgaAhVhEALw_wcBKen W7EKBSent via the Samsung Galaxy S21 5G, an AT&T 5G smartphone

The stuff in the caulking gun tube or squeezable tube may just be high temp silicone which I have used but don't think would sustain pulling or twisting of a plate/grid cap.  The real issues is that the stuff that looks like it is real furnace cement comes in high dollar plastic tubs, enough to fix a million tubes with.Charlie, W4MEC
