Jeff,

Maybe just us a #44 lamp, 250 mA vs. 150mA.  Lower antenna impedance 
means more current for the same power.

It appeared to load up good on 40 m  however the #47 output bulb (LO Z indicator) was real bright and eventually burned out.  the neon bulb worked as it should.  I had the power supply on the 130v tap. does this seem normal?   I was not using the end fed wire setup as shown in the manual.   do I need a different method of matching the 109 output when using it on coax fed antennas so the 47 bulb doesn’t burn out again ?
