[Milsurplus] Radios in movies

There was some movie, "Windtalkers" or such, the Japanese are cranking the hand powered generator for their Type 94-5 radio. Except  you only crank the gen when transmitting; otherwise it's dry - battery powered. I am one of the 4 people in 8 billions on Terra was upset at that scene.
Thing is, the people who write these screenplays are younger, dumber, and less diligent than you. Their product is "good enough" for the intended market.
