Being that short, probably. On my sedan, the antenna is a trace in the
rear window, with a pre-amp and bandpass filters in a module in the
c-pillar.
On the XYL's little vehicle, it's a spring about 7" long.
One trick is to look online, at the manufacturers site for a replacement
OEM antenna, which usually shows any cables, and amplifiers, then get
the part number, and look up the actual item online in google images, or
a used one listed on ebay to see multiple views of the actual part.
This is what is in my sedan, amplifier-wise:

The antenna model on the XYL's vehicle:

There is one co-ax, the other wire is a ground lead, not power to
anything in the base.
Factory parts page, showing antenna types, location, cables, but no
pre-amp, so it's probably in the factory radio:

She likes to listen to a station on 660 when driving home from work, and
it's about 650 miles away:

I like to listen to whatever I can, so figure a bigger antenna should
help with DX at night, and local during the day.
