So what would have a B-25 in the Pacific in 1943, have used ? I am thinking now of the book “Air Combat at 20 Feet”, Garrett Middlebrook, 2004. 655 pages; you will get your money’s worth,
that’s for sure. I have read it only by jumping in at random. It’s that interesting throughout. He somewhere mentions changing the channel, like plane-to-plane, also mentions i think, the YG
system, a very short mention. I have to reread this book in a front to back fashion. There are some exaggerated accounts, i suspect. He tells about landing his plane on some sand dunes
near an isolated small base, but a barge comes to fetch the plane. I think, how did they lift and move the plane, with limited equipment ? I think the plane would have been a write-off, with
instruments and such removed. My father was on Corsica and went out to see a crash-landed B-25 which was stripped and written off. Of course i do not know the exact likes of the geography
where this plane was crashed. Civilians had been thru the plane after the USAAF people and had opened the boxes of chaff, thinking there might be some good stuff inside.
