[Milsurplus] BC-611 Operational Question

I wouldn't call the 611 a huge operational success. The joke was, you could yell farther, which was a least sometimes true. My feeling is that without a throat mic, the thing would have been not very practical. I think the F production approached this with a socket for headphone and mic, altho you never saw this in real life, outside the manual. Both our enemies at the time had talkies with headphones and throat mics. You didn't have with one arm hold the thing to your ear to not miss a message, if you're wondering what exactly i mean. The enemy sets were also frequency variable and the antenna was plug-in. In the late 1970s i saw a 611 that had been abandoned, tossed away in combat in the Netherlands. Why ? The antenna was broken. The problems with the BC-745 and BC-611 were of course solved with the BC-1000, which was a real winner.
