[Milsurplus] modified ME-61/GRC FSM ??

I acquired recently an ME-61/GRC  FSM for the GRC-9 radio. Inside is written "CR1 changed to HEPR0700 hot carrier diode".
But in the diode position there is mounted a 1N126A diode as original, so maybe someone changed it back?
I have never with 'crystal radios' ever found any advantage to the touted hot carrier diodes for low level detection. For mixer use,
it probably is a different story. I am wondering what this supposed mod to this FSM was to achieve. I mean, it's just a simple FSM,
tuned circuit, diode, meter. Any opinion or comment ?
