  It was offered by my friend Pete K9HXW, who said that the name refers 
to Fred Budelman, who was chief engineer of the Fred M. Link Company.  
As you probably know,  Link is credited in large part for the use of FM 
for two-way police radio communications instead of AM.  Here's a 
for-sale listing of a 250 watt 30-50 MHz transmitter made by Budelman 
Radio Corp. of Stamford CT:

Budelman was involved with FM and also AM transmitters and paging 
systems.    WCCO is a class A 50KW AM station in Minneapolis. But I 
can't think of an application for this small receiver that would  
connect these two dots.
