[Milsurplus] Clean up or toss this headphone ?

I was given this military OD headgear with 2 earphones and boom mic. Only numbers i can see are M-51/UR on the mic,
and CW-292 on the mic holder. This set is really scuzzy; the earphones are sticky, and i can't yet tell if that is plastic
disease or gathered crud. Are these worth cleaning up or not? The main problem is just the ugliness of all the accumulated
crud on them, not physical damage, as far as i can tell. Also can you identify the thing?
