[Milsurplus] GO-9 question

I have the opportunity to buy at very reasonable cost the HF section of the GO-9. It has full covers on all sides, no shockmount.
It appears the power connectors come out on the bottom, so some means of elevating the bottom surface will be required.
My question is, if i don't want to use the 814 final tube at the 1500 volts it wants to make it happy, does the socket accept some
other lower voltage tube, like a 600 volt tube? I do not care at all about power, contests, and such. Or - if i get the thing - should
i just build a 600 volt supply for the existing tube and call it done?
