Jim said he thought this other case was the second tube tester. So i decided i would take a look, altho i had no interest in a tube
tester at this point. I moved a couple things off it and opened the case. Lo and behold, what do we have here? Someone took a
whole lot of effort to make this conversion - and not a bad conversion, if i may opine. Maybe better to have it in the original issue
cabinet, but not a bad conversion, and look, he actually retained the original equipment nameplate too. The thing is HEAVY.
It has a dual voltage DC / AC power supply in it, and the transformer looks "key down 24x7" size, much bigger than called for in
a 10 watt input radio. The covered cabinet has two levels, fits snugly, and had to be specially made for this project. I need to learn
who SK ham did this work so i can honor his name .
( BC-474 U.S. Army radio, 1942 - 1945. 2.5 - 6.5 MHz, 10 watts input, 6V6 final. A U.S. Army modification - improvement of an RCA
commercial product. )
