Following Hue's suggestion, I am sharing the attached article on USCG Communications that I found on a random search showing HRO receivers in the background at USCG Comms Station Long Beach

In the second equipment showing photo, there are two stacked receivers to the left of the R-388 type.
What are those?
They resemble a TRF type LF receiver in Army nomenclature, a BC-1xx something. A friend had one 
but i think it was ruined by being left outside in the yard.
