One of my favorites! Has it been that long? I remember chasing down
the frequencies, and getting bearings from Nevada.

Somewhere on the web are some really good pages, one documenting all the
work we did at the time. Here is one:

Some more info:

One fellow had a blog about chasing it down to the actual site, and some
trouble he had with security. He managed to snag a bunch of pictures of
the site, as well as track down property info, the reservation it was
on, some employee info, funding, shadow companies, newspaper clippings,
all sorts of stuff.

I have some saved messages from a ways back, I had forgotten about the
data burst that had also appeared. It's mentioned in this post:

"My theory was that it was some sort of government experiment of a new
digital transmission mode. I wasn't able to record any of it but the
transmissions included an 800 ms data burst of some sort."

Some references here, do a search for "yosemite sam":

Nowadays, with good clear reception, I'd be able to snag every single
bit in the data burst. I don't recall anyone analyzing that part at the
time.

There was also "Homer Simpson", aka, "Son Of Yosemite Sam":

Another favorite I can find no valid info for, is "The Angry Squirrel".
