[Milsurplus] Japanese infantry freqs

I briefly examined a Type 94-5 transmitter tonight, one with very surprisingly, an original quartz in it.
The frequency is 2134 kHz. Years ago i found another transmitter with a 1640 kHz quartz in it. These
do seem oddly low frequencies for a ca. 2 watt radio and besides, need a pretty long antenna. Another
set which i have, which supposedly came from the Aleutian campaign, had a set of quartzes all in the
6000 kHz range. I once thought, this was to hide their low power transmissions among the high power
broadcasts, but now i think that may be too imaginative.
