[Milsurplus] A BC-453 conversion that can be forgiven

I particularly appreciated the clever idea to connect the antenna input of a BC-453 to the headphone jack of a receiver to sniff the IF inside and get a second conversion and narrow IF output from the BC-453 with no modifications (or even opening the cover) of the main receiver.

I wonder who thought of that first?  I'm sure it worked better on some receivers than others.
