The manuals for the SCR-522 shows two installations, one using the
JB-29 junction box to interconnect the various components of the
SCR-522, and one using a terminal type junction box or board for
interconnection. The interconnections were for the RT unit, dynamotor,
and control head.
The manual states the JB-29 was used in British installations, the
terminal type system for US installations.
I don't know if the box you are referring to is the JB-29, or
some other terminal or junction box.
Using the JB-29 makes for a bit cleaner looking setup, but just
about doubles the needed connectors to implement.
One other British vs American difference for the SCR-522. The
SCR-522 has a built in interphone function, but the manual says
that was used by the British, American practice was to use the
interphone system of the aircraft.
Now whether or not what was described in the manuals, was actually
what was installed and used in operational service, could be another
matter entirely.
Although there could have been dual control setups for the SCR-522, I've
never seen them described. As far as I know, the SCR-522 only provided
for one control point. It would be interesting to know if such a dual
control system was ever implemented.

Some pics show a junction box mounted vertically on the side of the frame holding the SCR522, some don't. Does anyone know what the junction box was combining?? Did some B17's have dual controls for it like the RDF had?
