[Milsurplus] Question about URC-110

Hello All! I was asked a question about the URC-110 VHF-UHF Radio today. I own one and I am unsure of the answer. Why did Uncle use a UHF style connector (SO-239) for the UHF antenna and a type N (much better) for the VHF connection? Seems Bass-Ackwards to me! Ray Fantini frequents this site and he actually has used one (nice web page Ray!). Maybe he knows? Tried to find Jim Karlows email, he would know.
