No, single signal reception with a regen doesn't make sense, sorry. 
One exception, possibly: there was an internet interest group for regenerative receivers. This is now gone to Facebook only. 
Maybe 5, 6 years ago there was a fellow in NZ or OZ who posted about a crystal controlled ( single frequency, of course ) 
regen which did attenuate one sideband. But that's with a quartz as the control element, where you can maybe take 
advantage of a "phasing notch". Otherwise, it just doesn't make sense to me that one sideband is oscillating and the other, not.
