The quote referred to was i believe, from the 'Surplus Schematics' collection book, which just had a photo and schematic. Sometimes the photo didn't quite match the radio and for large complex units the reduced size schematic was useless. I am for sone reason thinking the caption descriptions such as the referred to quote were the work of Tom Kneitel, but i am not going to look for said book right now to verify that. But it absolutely sounds like him. If you know Kneitel's style you know he was given to snappy, irreverent comments with a wise guy humor slant. But his actual electronics knowledge was minimal. There are other equipment descriptions in that book that are equally silly and just plain untrue, like regards the BC-375. Tom just made up some of this stuff and you were supposed to laff.
