[Milsurplus] Navy RAS Receiver - Better Audio Fidelity?

Those who have worked on National RAS receivers:
As you probably know, the RAS was designed as a CW
receiver.  The RAS audio bandwidth drops off markedly
above about 800 Cycles.  Not good for AM or BCB monitoring.

Has anyone here found a non-destructive way to improve this?
The IFs are themselves narrow at 175 KC, so have thought of
placing resistors across those transformers to broaden them
somewhat.  Anyone worked this issue?
