Bob, are  you saying i could dispense with filter choke entirely, and just use a stack of lytics?
I do recall seeing one transmitter schematic in a magazine or book with just such smoothing.
"Not up to ARRL QST standards", hi hi.  Without looking at any SSB boat radio or ham radio
manual, i think this was done there also? With a transformer rated at what you say, around 
700+ volts, this could be a pretty lightweight supply for the transmitter. Incredibly lower weight
than would have been done in the old days. This will be for a 96-3 Japanese aircraft radio. My
job #1 right  now is downsizing other, but i hope before my clock runs out to put some of these 
beasts back on the air, CW music again over the Pacific.
Oh, the final is a 'UY510' which looks about 814 size. I don't have full specs on this tube yet.
