I have had things ruined by Duracell, and when you provide them with proof, they will give you the equivalent price of the item in free battery chits. I will use them to get 9V batteries but nothing else. I also switched to Ray-O-Vac and have had good luck, but I remember as a kid in the 50's a Ray-O-Vac was a guaranteed leaker and would ruin stuff, but they also said they would replace the ruined item if their battery was the culprit. I have a Mitchell 'Airboy Sr.' a battery operated aircraft receiver/transmitter and in it were two Eveready 'D' cells and 2 45V 'B' batteries. The B's were dead as a post, but the two 'D' cells had manufacture dates of November 1952 on them, 4 months before I was born, and neither had leaked and both still showed 0.6V on a VTVM. I have been buying EverReady mostly, but never a Duracell. I have also written to Duracell and they are pretty much useless on explaining why their batteries seem to be leaking more now, but since they are all made in China, I would expect the original US made Duracell's had better quality control.
