MC-124 or MC-nnn in general is Signal Corps nomenclature. MC- was a sorta
catch-all nomenclature prefix that was used for a lot of unrelated items
generally where the item was either unique or there weren't but a small
number of a particular type of item. The splined tuning cables of WW-II and
the Korean War came in two common sizes. The smaller size was used on
anything originally designed by A.R.C. The larger size was used by everyone
else.
MC-124 is specifically a 48" long remote tuning cable of the larger size. I
once upon a time had several hundred of them. The R-19 was made or at least
originally designed by A.R.C. so it used the smaller size tuning cable.

Subject: [Milsurplus] ARC-5 Spine Tuning Cable
Good Evening All,
I found a manual remote tuning head for my R-19 118-148 MC
receiver. When I pulled out the cable I thought went to it. I found it to
be the wrong size. The cable I have is marked MC-124, and is four feet in
length. If anyone has a cable that they would like to trade or sell. That
I could use. Please let me know.
