I did a lot of work with the ARC-2 several years ago.
Two tips:  Incresing the cap that injects BFO from
IIRC 10 pFd to 50 pFd really helps with CW and SSB
reception and metal tubes must be replaced with
metal tubes or the stages will "take off" (oscillate).
