You can tap on the nut tits with a hammer and flat-blade screwdriver to 
loosen it, or, they make pliers:

Tools for these things are usually at Home Depot, Lowe's, et cetera.

Looks like your supply was modded with a plate, held with the four 
screws, then a hole made for the elbow.

The elbow itself is nothing, don't feel bad if you have to cut/grind it 
off, but it looks like an older steel casting, so may be difficult if 
you go that route.  I wonder if the clamp screws were cut short to 
prevent hitting the case?  I usually take off 1/8-1/4".
