What a coincidence; i was just thinking about the R-460 last evening.
I have an R-460 that was given to me; one coil only, but at least it’s the 14 – 30 MHz one.
I think it's a great looking beast; it satisfies all the requirements for a "military looking machine".
But - this one became a transformer donor for another the previous owner had. So, no power
transformer in it, plus it needs a set of at least 3 other coils. So last night, i decided, at some
length, what i must do: i need to give it away to a friend. I have enough projects already. It was
the fact that it requires additional items, namely plug in units, that made the decision. Receivers
that don't need a stack of additional units made the cut. I still have in the input que, a HRO-60,
and -MX, a -5TA1, 3 Japanese HROs, and the German KST. I think much of that "should" go. One
of the Japanese ones has only the 3-coil minimum set, and i've had that one operational, and it's
pretty cute. That one might make the cut, as it doesn't include the LF coils and the required plug-in
IF cans for those bands, so it's less of a pile of stuff. But i came to the conclusion that i need to
radically downsize.

I would like to hear about the condition of your R-460 and how many coils you have. The one coil
on mine is not black, it's more of a flat plain color, which is odd. I never even did buy the HRO-50
manual so far; probably a good thing i didn't invest money in this project.
