[Milsurplus] Speaking of Tube Testers...

I own two TV-2/U tube testers, an older one, and a somewhat later one.

The older one, works well, except when testing VR tubes, when it goes into some form of
oscillation when I try to test those.

As I remember it, this oscillation also destroys the 83 MV rectifier tube.

The newer one doesn't yet work, and some of the sockets on the panel have been damaged.
I intend to fix that one when I can.

It seems as though there is a problem with the power transformer, but I have not yet
investigated the unit thoroughly.

This later one also has a TON of ferrite beads on nearly every wire in it.

Testing tubes with either unit is a pain. There are so many switches to set, and knobs to
tweak that it takes too long to really test a tube.

I am curious what others here think of this tester.

I also own a couple of other tube testers: an excellent commercial transconductance tester (a
644 ?), and a much simpler one that was part of that neat little test kit that included all sorts
of test instruments in addition to the tube-tester in a small metal box.

Anyway, if anyone here has used or owns a TV-2, I would like to get your opinion of it.
