Mike,

Ed Wetherhold, W3NQN, published articles in QST and RF Design on filter design using standard value capacitors. They have a good collection of his designs in the reference section of the ARRL 2000 Handbook.

I used his 5 pole high pass filter design. Since in can insert the filters in the receive section of my uBITX I used the polystyrene caps and T-37-6 Iron Core toroids.

My Xeigu G90 has a same issue but I don't want to go into the circuitry so I used an external filter with 500 volt Mica capacitors and T-50-6 toroids.

Like some others on this list I like to modify equipment, test it on the air and go to the next project.

I designed it such that there would be a zero at the most offending AM station. Worked great. 73 – Mike
