OH, just recalled something else. I vaguely remember that someone was bringing BC-312s from France, this in the 1970s, 
and rewiring the diversity models for independent operation. I think I may have even heard this from G&G itself. I cannot
think of any other source it could have been. The idea of paying to ship them from France seems a killer, but I suppose 
shipping rates were more practical then ?
On a trip to Europe in 1972, I picked up some French electronics magazines, and recognized old friends such as BC-312 
in the ads in back. France and maybe other countries kept such stuff in service way past the USA pull date.
