The dealers certainly flogged for years the seeming bottomless supply of BC-645s. 
The price didn't seem to me like a bargain then and not now either. Except I suppose if you bought
every last piece to re create the whole system. The circuit to me seems way too primitive for actual
ham use, even in the immediate postwar years. 
Somewhere I have an APN-1 or APS-13 thing with microphone connector on front. Odd. I have an
interest in odd mod ex-military electronics, but I don't want to start collecting more examples.
