[Milsurplus] WWII stock number

Kurt,

I thought that I was going to be able to answer your question, but...

Up until about 1955. The main Signal Corps catalog of parts and equipment was called SIG 5, and in December 1945 took about 18 shelf inches to store. There were also other volumes such as SIG 5-1 which was a list of all Signal Corps equipment with the Signal Corps Stock Number of each set or component shown. These took up another foot or so. I have I think the complete December 1945 edition. I also have SIG 5 complete on up through 1955, after which they apparently quit assigning Signal Corps Stock Numbers and started using the FSN system. Anyway, I did not find 2Z4990-21. From which I concluded that the set that used that part had probably been declared Obsolete and dropped from the catalog earlier in the War. Which unfortunately doesn't necessarily mean that no one here would have any interest.

Very vague info online:

United States. War Department · 1944
GLASS : scope : Belmont dwg / part # A - 55F - 2837

Nothing found for the stock number.

And for W-2279-SC-460

I only see one reference to "metal radio knobs", which may not be
entirely relevant, and no further details, or specifics.

Kurt
