[Milsurplus] Recorder Reproducer, Sound, RD-115/N available

It's magnetic tape, but with a paper rather than plastic substrate.  All 
the early recording tapes were oxide on paper until 3M Corporation 
developed the famous Scotch Type 111 acetate tape in 1948.  Paper tape 
continued to be produced for some time after that, and perhaps much 
longer for the special 3" tape used on the RD-115.

I have many reels of the old paper audio tape from the late 40s and 
early 50s and surprisingly, they have stood the test of time extremely 
well and are still usable.  Ironically, several of the tape formulations 
from the 70s and 80s, especially the back-coated types, have not fared 
so well and have now deteriorated to the point that they can be played 
at best one more time for archival transfer--if yer real lucky...
